Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about WhatMovie2Watch.
How does WhatMovie2Watch work?
You describe what you want to feel, and our AI (Google Gemini) parses your description into structured filters — genres, keywords, runtime preferences. We then search TMDB for matching movies, score them by relevance, and return personalized picks with ratings, streaming info, and trailers.
Do I need to create an account?
No. WhatMovie2Watch is completely account-free. No sign-ups, no tracking, no cookies beyond your theme preference.
Why are the recommendations taking so long?
Our pipeline involves multiple steps: AI intent parsing, movie discovery via TMDB, scoring, enrichment with ratings and streaming providers, and AI-generated explanations. Each step requires API calls that may take a few seconds. The result is worth the wait — high-quality, personalized recommendations.
Can I use this in my language?
Yes! We support English, Spanish, Japanese, French, German, Portuguese, Korean, and Italian. Use the language selector in the navigation bar to switch.
What is "Surprise Me"?
The Surprise Me button picks a random movie from the top trending titles and returns it instantly — no input required. It's the fastest way to get a recommendation.
What are Quick Vibes?
Quick Vibes are preset filter combinations like "Slow burn mystery" or "Rainy Sunday." Click one to instantly apply those filters and get recommendations — no typing needed.
What is "Reshuffle"?
After getting recommendations, click "Reshuffle" to get a fresh batch of 8 movies from the same search pool. You can reshuffle multiple times until you find something you like.
Where does the movie data come from?
All movie metadata, images, and streaming availability come from TMDB (The Movie Database). Ratings are aggregated from OMDb, which combines IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic scores.
Is my data being tracked?
No. We don't use analytics, tracking scripts, or cookies. Your prompts are processed in real-time and never stored. We have no way to identify you.
Can I request a feature or report a bug?
